Umphang, Thilor Su waterfall, Klotho stream, Ban Kotha and Thipogyi Karen villages, Mae Klong river, Bamboo rafting to Thilor Lay waterfall - Trek, camping and homestay (29 February - 04 March 2008)
Bamboo rafting down on Mae Klong river
Lush garden of millions different kinds of trees and bamboo on the slopes of mountains
followed us along Mae Klong river as we drifted downstream to the south.
We pushed, directed and rowed the rafts using bamboo poles.
We also passed over small rapids.

As we floated down the river the views of various shapes of hills came in and went away in slow motion.
Everything was beautiful and nothing was at rest, at least these were changing at a great slow pace.
Sounds of wild chickens broke the silence sometimes. We also saw a group of monkeys jumping into and
swimming across the river.
Camp on Mae Klong river bank - sand beach
Just before 6 p.m. we found a sand bank good for camping.
We stopped the rafts, looked around and decided to camp.
It was a nice place in the middle of the jungle.
Passing a rapid on Mae Klong river
After breakfast the next morning we left the camp to continue further downstream to Thilor Lay waterfall.
At about 8:30 a.m. we approached a rapid where we got off to walk over the rocks while
the local Karen guides managed to ride down the rafts pass the rapid.
Thilor Lay waterfall
Within next 10 minutes the view of Thilor Lay waterfall between the rock cliffs appeared
quite suddenly.
