Sangklaburi - Sanepong - Laiwo - Jakae - Lay Tong Ku - Pueng Klueng jungle walk & Karen village homestay: 11 - 17 April 2007
In the morning, with empty stomach, we woke up to fix again the truck.
So far we had used all kinds of materials we had to cut a gasket for the
water circulating pump. Now we tried to cut a sheet out of trousers.
We scratched heads and tried a steel wire to pull a boss on top of the pump
cover to make up for the un-balanced distribution of bolts.
Then we energised the engine; it made loud noice as if to try to tell us to
give up. Then the truck moved. It lasted less than a minute.
This time the pump cover was broken into two pieces. The end!!
So we picked our bags and started our walk.
The rain came and went and we walked in wet clothes for hours. At 11:30 a.m. we
arrived at a Forest station on the bank of a branch of Mae Sakat river.
We were all hungry and were given some rice by kind staff there. We went to their
kitchen and cooked rice for lunch.
Quiet and nice scenery of greenery surrounding a branch stream of Mae Sakat river
near the Forest station where we had lunch and waited for the rain to stop.
Imagine the amount of mud that stayed on underside of my shoe during the walk
from the Forest station to Jakae. It was middle of April. So what will the things be like
in August, September?
At 3:30 p.m. we were still walking in the forest, in the bamboo grove.
The trek was not difficult though.
