Jungle trek and camping in Umphang along Klotho stream, Kotha and Thilosu waterfalls : 17 - 22 Feb 2007
National Youth Achievement Award (NYAA) Gold Level Survival Trek of 7 students
Group photo with our Karen hilltribe guides at Thilorsu waterfall campsite (20 Feb 2007 morning).
The camp site on Klotho stream bank has public toilets and shower rooms, office, gate post and car parking area.
A view of our tents at Thilorsu waterfall camp yard. After two days of jungle walk carrying approximately 10 Kg weight
each, we are quite tired and spending few hours on cleaning dishes, drying clothes, and repacking, enjoying the
luxury of using brick walled toilet room, before heading to Thilorsu waterfall.
Thilorsu waterfall in February, dry season. Klotho stream drops roughly 200 meters creating one of south-east Asia
largest waterfalls. Its width changes depending on the water amount. It is said to be between 300 to 400 meters wide.
It is in fact cluster of several waterfalls with crystal clear pool below each fall.
Our teacher cum supervisor on top of a waterfall. Is she going to jump over to the pool below?
We have a swim in the water. It is cool and clear and very refreshing.
A section of Thilorsu waterfall upper levels. The pool below each fall is very green and clear.
Now the relaxation part of the trip is over (so quickly!), and we are struggling pushing and pulling overselves up the Thilorsu waterfall
hill to continue our trek along upstream Klotho stream.
