Thailand Photos: Doi Phanoen Thung trek in Kaeng Krachan national park: 24 - 26 Mar 2006
Misty, foggy morning at 6:10 a.m. on Doi Phanoen Thung peak. It was even more beautiful than the
view of sea of fog at km 30 camp yard probably because of absence of man-made element.
All around was the world of nature: hills, trees, plants, and sounds of birds and wind all
under the single sky.
It was 6:20 a.m. and the sun was already well above the horizon; however our camp was still in the dark of trees.
We built again the fire, made hot drink, toast, and noodle soup for breakfast. We walked around to take photos.
Walking back 8 km to km 30 camp seemed not as hard as yesterday's walk. We were however rushing to catch any truck
going back to the headquarters. It was Sunday so people camping there last night could leave any time and we had to go fast.
A view of jungle in which we had spent 2 days and a night. We arrived at km 30 camp in 3 hours.
At the restaurant run by a park ranger's family we had our quick lunch and then took a free ride on a
pick up truck back to Kaeng Krachan national park's headquarters.
A dusty dirt road between km 30 camp and the park's headquarters. Saturday and Sunday are crowded especially
during the cool and dry season. In the wet months, June to October, it is necessary to use a four wheel drive vehicle.
