Thailand Photos: Climbing Doi Chiang Dao and Karen village home stay: 09 - 13 Dec 2005
This is where the three trails meet. The one to Doi Luang Chiang Dao, the other one from our yesterday starting point,
and the trail to Den Yah Kud meet among the bush on the grassy slope of Doi Sam Pi Naung hills.
After that we continued walking on relatively easy trail entering the valley.
Right: we were now in the valley surrounded by 360-degree very beautiful scenery of all mountains.
Mountain-tops are without large plants, and the valleys between two adjacent peaks are mostly grassland that
give the impression of nice camp yards if it is not for the wind.
The 2175 meters high Doi Pyramid peak which is to the north of the valley. We were in the middle of the valley.
The trail was easy to moderate level; there were flowers and of course nice view points where every one wanted to stop
for photos. Right: very clear view of Doi Luang Chiang Dao peak - 2225 meters above sea level.
We took a stop for lunch before continuing to Ang Salung - the camp right at the foot of Doi Luang
Chiang Dao peak.
After pitching the tents we headed to Doi Q-Pak Ang peaks to the south for more views and flowers.
About 20 minutes walk on an easy to moderate level trail with few steep slopes took us to the peaks
of Doi Q-Pak Ang. Left: the camp site from a distance. The right picture is Doi Pyramid.
