Fishing is the main occupation of Mairood villagers. Fishing boats can be seen moored along
the village canal. The boat in the right photo is one of the largest ones in the village. It has many light
bulbs that fishermen use to attract fish at night.
One morning we took a small boat out into the sea. Mairood village is located in Klong Yai district - about 53 km
from Trat city, and 36 km from Had Lek Thai-Cambodia border check point.
From the entrance to the sea we could see Koh Kood island - the second larget in the Koh Chang island group.
The boat took us along the coast to the south. Photo on the left is Khao Maew (Cat mountain) and its rocky shore.
On the right is a lonely fishing boat at sea. Fishing trips for tourist can be arranged.
