After coming back from Khao Luang mountain, Kiriwong village sent me in a pick up truck to Surat Thani where I took a bus to Chumpon and then to Ranong to visit my friend there. A night stop in Ranong gave me a chance to shoot some photos. A few of them are here.

A border crossing boat between Thailand's Ranong and Myanmar's Kaw Thaung  Ranong water line
Left: A border crossing boat on the move. Most of the passengers were foreigners staying in Thailand going for visa run. They went to Thai immigration office in Ranong, not far from the boat pier, stamped out and took this boat to Myanmar's Kaw Thaung town. At Kaw Thaung, they got entry and exist stamps from Myanmar immigration, and without visiting anywhere came back straight away to Thai side and to Thai immigration office for another stamp of 30 days stay.

If you are one of those nationals for whom Thailand does not grant 30 days stay without a visa, please kindly forget this.

Right: The Ranong waterline. Buildings, boat piers, various river crafts plying the waters of Ranong. Behind the buildings are the mountain range that runs north-south from Thaninthayi range to Malaysia.
