Thailand Photos: Climbing Khao Luang (Nakhon Si Thammarat), and Ranong : 11 - 16 April 2005
Left: A border crossing boat on the move. Most of the passengers were foreigners staying in Thailand going for visa run.
They went to Thai immigration office in Ranong, not far from the boat pier, stamped out and took this boat to Myanmar's Kaw Thaung town.
At Kaw Thaung, they got entry and exist stamps from Myanmar immigration, and without visiting anywhere
came back straight away to Thai side and to Thai immigration office for another stamp of 30 days stay.
If you are one of those nationals for whom Thailand does not grant 30 days stay without a visa, please kindly forget this.
Right: The Ranong waterline. Buildings, boat piers, various river crafts plying the waters of Ranong. Behind the buildings
are the mountain range that runs north-south from Thaninthayi range to Malaysia.
Left and right: Photos from Mangrove research center in Ngao district, about 15 km south of Ranong.
This Mangrove center maintains some mangroves along a river mouth on Andaman sea. Research and
education activities are being undertaken by the center.

Right: A wooden walkway to the sea (andaman) near Thai-Myanmar border. On the right were hills from Myanmar,
most of them were without forest.
