Had Pha Dai where Mekong river enters entirely into Laos
Had Pha Dai where - the end of Thailand along the Mekong river. Thai side was now a picnic camping place. Only a small stream divides Thailand's Chiang Rai province from Laos' Bokeo province.
Laos side next to Had Pha Dai in Thailand
In next moment we were entirely inside Laos and the view on the river bank changed. People were fishing. There were no resort or ready-made camping area that you can drive in.
Pak Tha Lao immigration check point
Pak Tha is where Lao immigration check point is, and is also where Nam Tha river enters into Mekong. Small boats could go upstream to Luang Namtha - a trip that takes 2 or more days when the water level is enough.
Ban Huay FuAng village
We stopped at a small village called Ban Huay FuAng on the left side of the river. Most houses are made of bamboo floors and walls, wood columns and thatch roofing.
Rice storage hut in Ban Huay Fuang
A bamboo rice storage hut in the village. They do rice and corn farming, and gold panning in the river. There were cocount palms, chicken, duck, turkey, pigs, cows, and buffalows too.
A blacksmith in the village
A blacksmith producing knifes. He was using a hand operated blower fan to feed air (Oxygen) into the small earthern heater. We also saw carpenters doing repair work on the wooden boats.
