Sala Hinboun, Ban Pong Nyein

Sala Hinboun offers a nice village cottage style accommodation and good food, right on Hinboun river and in the middle of nowhere in Khammouane province. The place is located in Ban pong Nyein village. Until recently the river boat was the only way to reach in the rainy season. It was going to be changed since a dirt road from the highway 8 was completed and there were plans to make it all weather road.

On the next day we took to the river again for a boat ride to Konglor cave - the underground river passage that connects two valleys in the limestone country.

The 7.5 km long Konglor cave is one of many caves in the province. It is one of few caves in the area, which serve as connecting passages between two places in the maze of limestone vertical cliff mountains and valleys.

At the mouth of the downstream end entrance are rapids through which our boatmen pulled the boat into the cave.
