This is the second part of our Oct/Nov 2007 trip which began in Chiang Rai in northern Thailand.
We arrived Udon Thani on 05 Nov 2007 where we spent the evening relaxing and taking rest in Charoensri
Grand hotel. These photos will take you briefly into central and southern Laos - to the beautiful rural country
with rivers, caves, mountain cliffs, and villages with simple and friendly peoples.

A man cleaning his paddle powered 3 wheeler taxi in Udon Thani
Udon Thani, once one of the bases used by US military forces during Indochina wars in the 1960's and 1970's, is an important
trading center between north-eastern Thailand, Laos and the rest of Thailand.
Nowadays the city houses a sizable number of expats. The city central area offers bars and restaurants,
Internet shops, and night entertainment salons. However for this old man the life seemed to be unchanged - the
same as probably 10 years ago when he bought his first perhaps second handpaddle-powered tricycle taxi
out of a borrowed money.
Ban Chiang (*)
The wooden houses in Ban Chiang villages are quite unique, different from the houses in buildings in the other
villages and districts of Udon Thani province. Ban Chiang archaeological site admininters a museum there.
