Old French railway bridge connecting Don Det and Don Khon island - southern
Laos near Cambodia border (Mekong river).
Don Det (also called Don Dhet) and Don Khon (also called Don Khone) are two
small islands on the Mekong river about 12 km to the south of Don Khong - the largest of the many islands.
The island group is collectively called Si Phan Don or 4000 islands. In the dry season the water level falls and many
islands appear in the area. This is also where Irrawaddy dolphins can be found. In the rainy season
the Mekong river here could be as wide as 14 km.
